Terms of use

Effective November 2, 2026. These terms describe use of HackerTube Run, an independent video discovery website. We are not affiliated with YouTube, Hacker News, Y Combinator or the original HackerTube project.

Using the library

You can browse, search, watch embedded videos and save links in this browser without an account or payment to this site. Use the website lawfully and respect the rights and access settings of video creators. We do not provide video uploads, downloads or account synchronization.

Videos and external services

Videos and thumbnails remain with their creators and respective rights holders. Playback uses YouTube’s official player and is subject to YouTube’s terms. External sites set their own terms and policies. Availability, embedding permissions and regional restrictions may change.

Archive accuracy

Our library uses the October 31, 2026 data snapshot. Summaries and labels include AI-generated source material and can contain mistakes. Recommendation counts are archive records, not live views or guarantees of accuracy. Verify important claims using original videos, documentation and discussion links.

Data and software licenses

The open dataset is used under ODC-By 1.0 with attribution to HackerTube and open-index/hacker-news. The adapted upstream software is MIT-licensed. These licenses do not grant ownership of video files, thumbnails or user comments. See sources and credits for details.

Local lists and service changes

Watch later and recently opened history use browser storage. They can be lost when site data is cleared and are not backed up by this website. The service is provided as available; we do not promise uninterrupted access or permanent retention of local lists. See Privacy for storage and third-party processing details.

Corrections

When assessing a disputed summary, compare the original video and linked Hacker News comment. Attribution and source verification are described on the About page.
