I also have the CV1 and am looking to upgrade. The Index has better tracking (using lighthouse) and a larger FOV than the Quest 2 but much worse resolution. If you want the inside-out tracking and higher resolution of the Quest 2 but don't want to deal with Facebook, check out the HP Reverb G2. It's pricier than the Quest 2 but still much cheaper than the Index. Resolution comparison between Index, Quest 2, and Reverb G2: [VIDEO] Resolution comparison between CV1, Vive, and Quest 2: [LINK]
Read original comment ↗> this is arguably a worse piece of hardware than Valve's Index Could you expand on this? Even the Quest 2 has considerably lower screen door effect [1]. The quest pro has double the valve index PPD (~14 vs ~32). The selling point of the Index is FOV. 90 degrees is plenty for work. 1. Through the lens: [VIDEO]
Read original comment ↗I feel that the bare minimum headset that can handle work is the HP Reverb G2. It’s the only headset with a high enough resolution under $1000 (you can find it under $300 on eBay). There’s also Pimax, but their QA and customer support is terrible and you need to deal with base stations. Through the lens comparison g2 vs Index vs Quest 2 [VIDEO]
